Punta Islita – Single Origin
Situated in Guanacaste Province, on Costa Rica’s Blue Zone the Nicoyan Peninsula, Punta Islita sits in a small protective cove less than a mile long. It contains a mangrove swamp where visitors are likely spot nesting sea turtles and a huge reserve of mango trees.
Punta Islita is not only a globally recognized sustainable travel destination, but also a thriving region characterized by a healthy natural environment and a dynamic collective of travel professionals, community artists, and micro-entrepreneurs.
Punta Islita Tourism was developed in full synergy with its local neighbors, prompting wildlife conservation, reforestation, and local employment opportunities. Art programs and complementary education further provided empowering tools for the local communities as a result opening the fist local art museum Casa Museo. The entire town of Islita is made up of 150 neighbors. Everyone with the same vision in mind: protect nature, create and empower!
This year, we welcome our new Single Origin honey Punta Islita. We have continued the synergies of the area to support the community and create an apiary surrounded by beautiful vegetation.
Punta Islita is a dry tropical forest that has a wide variety of trees, the most common are:
Mango
Scientific name: Mangifera indica
The mango tree is an evergreen perennial tree belonging to the genus Mangifera. It is a tropical fruit tree.
Corteza Amarilla
Scientific name: Tabebuia ochracea
Known as “Corteza Amarilla” or Yellow Bark is a timber tree, native to the Americas, very common in Central America, and of great beauty. This tree flowers twice a year in April and December, when it does the tree loses all its leaves and instead becomes covered in vivid yellow flowers, giving it a very eye-catching appearance.
